House a pet, become a PAWSS Guardian
Opening your heart and home to a pet in need is a powerful act of compassion — and we’re so grateful you're thinking about it. Housing an animal through PAWSS means more than just temporary care; it means helping someone take brave steps toward recovery, knowing their beloved pet is safe and loved.
As a PAWSS Guardian you are temporarily caring for an animal as if they were your own, whether in your own home or boarding facility. We provide the supplies and support, you provide the home and love.
Our client's needs vary — some pets stay for a few weeks, others for a couple years — and every situation is unique. Whether you're available for short-term, emergency, or vacation relief, your support saves lives and keeps families together.
Please fill out the form below if you’re ready to get started or just want to learn more.
We’ll be with you every step of the way. You don’t have to be perfect — just willing.
We support our Guardians
Being a PAWSS Guardian means providing a temporary, safe, and loving home for a pet while their person focuses on recovery, stability, or a major life transition. Placements are short-term and goal-oriented, with reunification always in mind.
PAWSS supports fosters with food, supplies, and veterinary coordination. You are never expected to handle situations alone — we value clear communication, realistic expectations, and mutual respect.
Opening Your Home
PAWSS fosters are patient, reliable, and comfortable providing consistent care for animals during a temporary placement. Many of our fosters have experience with pets, flexible schedules, and an understanding that animals may need time to adjust.
You don’t need to be perfect — just dependable, communicative, and willing to provide stability while an animal waits to be reunited with their person.
A Good Fit for Fostering
PAWSS provides food, basic supplies, and veterinary care coordination for animals in foster. We stay in communication throughout the placement and are available if questions or concerns arise.
Fosters are asked to provide a safe home environment, daily care, and timely communication with the PAWSS team. We do not expect fosters to provide training, medical treatment, or behavioral intervention beyond basic care.
How We Support Our Fosters
PAWSS foster placements are temporary and vary in length depending on each situation. Our goal is always reunification, and we work closely with all involved to support a smooth transition back to the pet’s person.
While timelines can shift, we prioritize transparency and communication so fosters know what to expect and can plan accordingly.
Temporary Care, Lasting Impact

Placement lengths vary, but all PAWSS placements are temporary. We prioritize clear communication and will share expected timelines as early as possible. Some stays are just 30 days, but we keep animals in the program for up to two years in rare circumstances.
